Highland Fluid Technology Ltd knows oilfield fluids and offers robust, cost-effective technology to process and recycle the “workhorse” fluids used in the upstream oil and gas business – fluids such as drilling muds, frac fluids and completion fluids. Leadership

Kevin Smith

KevinSmithMr. Smith, a founder and owner of Highland Fluid Technology, Ltd, creates enterprise value and market positioning through technology as evidenced by his more than 30 patents. He started his career at Haliburton with a focus on implementing new fracturing fluids in the field. Next, Mr. Smith joined Universal Well Services and as Vice President managed significant geographic expansions and all aspects of fracturing services.

In 1986, Mr. Smith founded Clearwater, Inc., a specialty chemical manufacturing company with worldwide sales that was later acquired by Weatherford International. Mr. Smith also started ECD/Northwest, Inc. that provided managed pressure drilling and had been previously acquired by Weatherford. Mr. Smith went on to form Total Separation Solutions, which became a Shell Technology Ventures portfolio company. He managed the startup and the business as it evolved into a drilling services group and continued to manage technical development while filing numerous patents.

In 2010, Mr. Smith joined Smart Chemical Services, LP, an oilfield chemical service company. As the company’s VP/Partner, he worked primarily in the upstream oil and gas business and focused on unconventional reservoirs. Highland Fluid Technology bought certain assets of Smart Chemical Services to focus on process oilfield fluids.

Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Kentucky. Mr. Smith has traveled widely throughout his career doing business in Russia, India, Europe, South America, Asia, and the Middle East.

 

Lawrence “Larry” Hibbard

LarryHibbardMr. Hibbard is a energy sector executive, with eight years of Board-level experience and forty years of international and domestic energy market expertise that includes contract drilling, directional drilling and drilling tools, pressure pumping and completions, fluids technology, well construction, production management, and integrated project management. He has an extensive background in acquisitions, operations, marketing, technology and engineering.

Mr. Hibbard is certified as a Governance Fellow by the National Association of Corporate Directors. He is an accomplished leader, strategic thinker and team-builder. Mr. Hibbard has held senior management positions with product group revenue of up to $1B within Schlumberger and its affiliates, including: Integrated Project Management group, Sedco Forex (a predecessor to Transocean), Anadrill and Dowell Schlumberger.

Mr. Hibbard¹s international experience spans the globe, including living in Houston, London, Paris, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei, Australia and Singapore. He is well traveled and has had executive oversight responsibility for all continents during his career.

Currently Mr. Hibbard is a co-founder and senior executive at Highland Fluid Technology, a fluids services company. He is also a Director of Phoenix Energy Services, a public company trading on the Toronto exchange and Trigpoint Solutions, a private technology startup based in Denver Co.

 

Technology & Operations

Charles “Charlie” Bellinger

Mr. Bellinger serves as Vice President and directs the development and operations of product lines related to drilling fluid and fluid management services. His responsibilities include overseeing the fundamental growth of the company through establishment of a process-driven culture, led by safety and quality.

Prior to joining Highland Fluid, Mr. Bellinger spent more than twenty years in global operations of various companies with responsibilities in the areas of overall product strategy, research and development, and the management of traditional, horizontal and underbalanced drilling projects throughout North America, Asia, China and Africa.

 

Jiengju “Jim” Lin

Mr. Lin is an oil & gas engineer with six years of operations management and eleven years of international and domestic engineering experience offshore and on land in stimulation and well construction. He started his career at Schlumberger with a focus on implementing new equipment and cementing fluids for well construction. Next, Mr. Lin joined Allied Oil & Gas Services to develop the service quality management system and create a training and development program.

Mr. Lin holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr. Lin’s international experience includes Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.

 

Business Development

Glen Walden

Mr. Walden was raised in energy business and has had hands-on experience working in the field on drilling rigs, work over well service rigs, wireline and vacuum truck services. He attended the University of Oklahoma and holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry, Biology and a Minor in Business Administration.

Having worked in the chemical business for 24 years in a broad spectrum of industries with a focus on the Oil & Gas industry. His career began with a small Mexican specialty surfactant producer which was later sold to Clarient Oil Services. The focus of Glen’s chemical training has been in surface active chemistry – specifically in Ethoxylation and Propoxylation.

In 1999 he started Conlen Surfactant Technology, Inc, a chemical marketing and manufacturing company, which grew to have three plants in Texas and Canada which served the Oil & Gas and Agricultural industries. In 2012 the Conlen group was sold to Lamberti USA and is continuing to thrive. In February of 2018 Glen joined Highland Fluid Technology to assist in Business Development.
